Aftercare
Proper aftercare is essential to ensure your tattoo heals efficiently and maintains its quality for years to come. Please follow these five steps carefully:
Ⅰ. Second Skin Application
After completing your tattoo, I will apply a protective film called “Second Skin.” This layer acts as a barrier, mimicking a second layer of skin to shield your tattoo during the initial healing phase.
☻ The Second Skin should remain in place for 5 to 7 days.
☻ During the first 24 hours, it is normal for plasma (clear fluid), ink, or a small amount of blood to collect under the film. This is part of the healing process.
☻ If a large bubble of fluid forms under the Second Skin, it may need to be removed and replaced with a fresh application.
Ⅱ. Removing the Second Skin
When ready to remove the film:
☻ Begin by gently peeling back one edge or corner of the Second Skin.
☻ Slowly pull the film off while supporting your skin to reduce any discomfort.
Ⅲ. After Removal
Once the Second Skin is removed, follow these steps:
☻ Clean your tattoo gently with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat it dry with a clean, soft towel.
☻ Keep your tattoo hydrated using organic coconut oil or a high-quality tattoo aftercare product. Apply a thin, even layer as needed, avoiding over-moisturization, which can hinder healing.
Ⅳ. Alternative Aftercare (Without Second Skin)
If you opt not to use the Second Skin:
☻ Keep the tattoo clean and dry for the first 48 hours.
☻ Starting on Day 3, begin applying a light layer of aftercare product or organic coconut oil whenever your tattoo feels dry or itchy. Always prioritize cleanliness during this time.
Ⅴ. Important Precautions
☻ Avoid direct sunlight, swimming (pools, oceans, or hot tubs), and activities that may expose the tattoo to bacteria until it is fully healed.
☻ Once healed, protect your tattoo with a high-SPF sunscreen to preserve its vibrancy and prevent fading.
By following these aftercare steps, your tattoo will heal beautifully and remain a lasting piece of art. If you have any concerns or questions during the healing process, don’t hesitate to reach out.
